Current ConditionsClear Lake is currently sitting at about 4.5 feet Rumsey. In comparison to last year (1.0) we are in great shape. Compared to historical average of 5.8 it is low. Long range guesses don’t show much hope right now but at least we have more than last year! Water clarity is pretty good around the lake. Any where from a foot to 5 feet of visibility depending on the part of the lake. Water temperature is holding in the low 50‘s in the morning and working up to the mid 50‘s on sunny afternoons. Still a larger than normal amount of floating debris around the lake so pay attention. One little deal that looks like a tule sticking up might have a 30 tree attached. |

The Bite![]() Prior to the current return to late winter the water temp was getting up in to the low 60‘s by late afternoon and the fish were moving. With the water cooled off the bite is still good but requires a little more effort and not as many numbers are being landed. I am having a dickens of a time trying to get on a consistent swim bait bite. By far ripping and plastics have been the most consistent way to go on the upper end of the lake. Fortunately with more water in the lake the North and West shores of the upper end have been back in play in 2015. The South shore has been slow to come alive so far with the exception days around the creek mouths. This winter was incredible! I got to fish a bunch between here and Berryessa and had a blast. You know it is a great winter when you are fishing in your shorts! By partner Jim with a DD caught just a week ago. |

Spring 2015![]() So far this late Winter is looking real good! The bite has improved. The fish look superbly healthy. We have already put a DD in the boat as well as a number of other good fish. We have not broke out the live bait yet mostly because, we have not needed to for some great results. It is really looking like it is going to be an extremely productive Spring. Reid and his buddy Chase popped in from Montana last week. He caught this nice one while we ran them around the lake to show them water to fish and methods. They reported back in a couple of days later with PB fish of 8.5 and 7.25. Not a lot of fish but they hung some good ones! |
